Ginny Van Rie, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Georgia College & State University. She is a certified special educator who taught children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, and extremely challenging behavior for over 9 years. She currently teaches research courses at the graduate level and behavior management courses to pre-service undergraduate and graduate level teacher candidates to help them intervene positively and proactively to minimize maladaptive behavior and support student achievement. Her goal is to create an environment to match the learning and behavioral needs of each individual student. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Rockdale County Autism Support Group in Conyers, GA as well as the Life Enrichment Center (an adult day center for individuals with disabilities) in Milledgeville, GA.
